Businessman Dr Upendra Mahato announced Rs 150 million assistance for the relief and rehabilitation for the victims of Saturday’s devastating earthquake.
Rs 30 million will be spent on relief and the remaining Rs 120 million will be spent for rehabilitation work through Phul Kumari Mahato Memorial Trust, he said at a press meet organised in the capital here today.
Phul Kumari Mahato Memorial Trust is a charitable organisation established in memory of Mahato’s mother. “Rs 30 million will be spent on immediate relief for tents, food stuff and clothing,” he said, adding that Rs 120 million will be spent for the construction of quake-resistant school buildings in the highly affected region.upendra-phul-kumari-mahato
Expressing grief at the loss of lives in the quake Mahato also appealed Nepalis not to lose hope and stay united in rescue, relief and reconstruction of the country. ‘Nepalis are known for their strong will power, confidence and dedication,” he said, adding that we will be able to bounce back and rebuild our nation with the strength.
Mahato is the founder president of Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).
