Department of Transport Management and Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs today agreed to hike transport fare from October 18, after festivals.
During a meeting today, they also decided to do necessary homework to implement the decision.
But we will decide the percentage to be increased in charges of cabs and other public vehicles and cargo carriers later, on the basis of Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport’s approval, said director general at the department Kashi Raj Dahal.
The ministry has already approved maximum seven per cent fare hike proposal of the department
There has been no change in the transportation fare for the last one-and-a-half year and the transport entrepreneurs were pressuring the government to to increase fare.
But the consumer rights activists have been claiming that the fare hike fixed by the government is unrealistic.
