Nepal took part in the 22nd edition of Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) 2014 on February 27-March 1.
The three-day interactions and business dealings amongst buyers and sellers at China Import & Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou, China saw participation of 750 exhibitors – some 40 countries – including China. The participants showcased their tourism products and services.
“The GITF 2014 is a significant platform of communication and cooperation in tourism industry,” says the organiser Hannover Milano Fairs China Ltd.
The GITF – that is an influential Asia-Pacific Region’s travel fair over the last few years – has been an important event for Nepal also as the Chinese visitors can directly board on a flight from Guangzhou to Kathmandu. They also can take flight alternative flights from Hong Kong, which is merely two hours train travel from Guangzhou. Likewise, China is spear-heading with 98 million outbound tourists, who spent $120 billion in 2013 globally, according to the China Tourism Academy.
Chinese tourists inflow ranked second after India in 2012 with 85,739 arrivals figure to Nepal. The visitors arrival is also expected to surge up to one million in 2013.
