Nepal Army today said that five civilians have also died in the US Marine chopper crash in Dolakha on May 17.
After DNA test of human remains recovered from crashed site of UH-1Y Huey of US Marines Corps, the Army said that the missing five civilians were on board in the ill-fated US chopper. The DNA test was carried out by joint army teams of the United States of America and Nepal.
With the new revelation, a total of 13 deaths have been reported in US Marine crash. Earlier, the authorities have reported eight deaths—six US Marines and two Nepal Army personnel.
Dhurba Katuwal, Lok Bahadur Katuwal, Shiva Khatri and Yam Bahadur Khatri of Ladhuk-7 and Sabitri Siwakoti of Lamidanda VDC of Dolakha district are reported dead in the US chopper crash.
The UH-1Y Huey of US Marines Corps that was distributing relief packages to earthquake victims in Dolakha and Sindhupalchowk districts went missing for five days before search teams spotted it crashed in Dolakha on May 17.
