Ministry of Labour and Employment today refuted a news report in The Guardian newspaper about Nepali migrant workers in Qatar. The ministry said that the news published on May 24 in The Guardian does not reflect the spirit of the state minister, whom the news has quaoted.
The ministry issuing a press note today said that its attention has been drawn to the news of migrant Nepali workers in Qatar, where the Labor and Employment minister Tek Bahadur Gurung has been inaccurately quoted.
“The content of the news report does not reflect the spirit of the minister, who had just appealed, in a good faith, all employers of Qatar to facilitate the return of Nepali migrant workers to join their family members due to recent earthquakes,” the ministry press release said, adding that the employers of Qatar have responded very positively to the matter and Nepali migrant workers have been facilitated by their employers to return to Nepal.
The ministry has asked the newspaper to report fact-based and responsible news.
