Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment has recovered more than 210-kg of polythene bags within first two days of the enforcement of government decision to ban plastics in the Kathmandu Valley.
Secretary at the ministry Dr Krishna Chandra Poudel – today organising a press conference today – said that they recovered plastic bags from various places to fully implement the government decision to keep the environment free of polythene bags.
They seized polythene bags from the entry points to Bhaktpuar and Kathmandu districts before the supply and from other shops in the valley.
Today only, two-kg of polythene bag was seized from a grocery of Dakchhinkali while 18-kg from different department stores of Kalimati, he said, adding that the monitoring would continue till the valley turns polythene free.
