Tourism Minister Bhim Prasad Acharya today – during the inspection visit of its head office – directed Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) to move ahead with purchasing two wide-body jets.

“But prepare a 10-year business plan within a month,” he said, adding that the NAC has to replace its old aircraft gradually due to high operating costs. “With the delivery of six Chinese-made aircraft, the national flag carier’s fleet will increase to nine to serve the domestic sector by October.”

The national flag carrier has estimated Rs 9.63 billion as its total income for the current fiscal year. But it is hopeful of crossing more than double to Rs 21 billion after it addes new aircraft to its fleet.

The airlines that has been passing through the rough weather plans to fly its two grounded Twin Otters by April.
