President Dr Ram Baran Yadav today administered oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at the Presidential Palace in Sital Niwas.
President of Nepal Congress, Koirala, is the 37th prime minister of the country and fifth executive head of the youngest republic, after 2008. Yesterday, 74-year old Koirala had been elected by the Legislature-Parliament as prime minister.
After swearing in, Prime Minister Koirala also administered oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat. With Koirala’s entry into the Singh Durbar, the 11-month tenure of chief justice and chairman of the council of ministers Khilraj Regmi came to an end.
Today, chief justice Regmi during his TV live telecast also announced his resignation from the post of chief justice. Though, the former bureaucrats government led by Regmi was founded on wrong principle, it had completed its task of conducting the second Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
Koirala, who is unmarried and lives in a rented house at Maharajgunj in Kathmandu will move to Prime Minister’s quarter Baluwater on Saturday.
The country might see some stability that would boost the confidence of private sector and propel economic growth.
