Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has felicitated six highest taxpayers of Sagarmatha zone.

The felicitation – a part of the department’s campaign to felicitate taxpayers making significant contribution in national treasury for the fiscal year 2012-13, was organized in the regional office in Lahan.
The department felicitated Solukhumbu based Mid Himalayan Health and Environmental Service, Ohkhaldhunga based Karuna Order and Suppliers and Khotang based Diktel English Boarding School.

Similarly, regional office of the department also felicitated Subash Oil Center from Udaypur, Shramjibi Saving and Credit Cooperatives Siraha and Multipurpose Finance Company, Saptari. They were honoured for filing highest income tax in the fiscal year 2011-12.
Felicitating the highest taxpayers, the department’s director general Tankamani Sharma urged the people to file the income tax according to the state laws and regulations. “The tax administration has considered the first tax officer to the taxpayers themselves,” he said, adding that the taxpayers are allowed for the book keeping of their transaction themselves trusting on them.

Saying that the department is working for the reform in taxation system, , he also informed that the government has commemorated the fiscal year 2011-12 as ‘Taxation System Reform Year’. “The government has also prepared a five-year strategic plan and three-year reform plan to make the revenue mobilisation more effective.”

The revenue department is working on simplyfing the tax system by making necessary amendment to tax laws and regulations, he added.
