International airlines flying into Kathmandu have jacked up airfare before the tourist season.

The airlines flying into Kathmandu increased their airfare by almost 50 per cent, according to travel agencies.

Though the airlines have encouraging booking of their flights for September-November touris season, the hike in price is going to hit the migrant workers, they said, adding that airlines do not have tickets from September 20 onwards.

Likewise, a one-way ticket on Kathmandu-New Delhi route will cost Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000, though it costs only Rs 12,000 to Rs 13,000, currently.
