An Indian jetliner with 170 people on board caught fire while landing in Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) today but there were no casualties reported.

The right wheels of the Airbus 320 of Indigo – an Indian budget airlines – 6E 031 caught fire during the landing at the TIA and passengers were quickly evacuated through emergency doors, informed chief of TIA Rishikesh Sharma.

“Emergency workers responded quickly to control the fire,” he said, adding that the officials were investigating the incident.

IndiGo flight 6E 031 from Delhi-Kathmandu upon landing safely witnessed smoke and fire from the right brake, posted the Indigo airlines in its twitter account. “All 175 pax, one infant and six crew members were safely evacuated within 81 second, investigations underway,” the official micro blogging site of the airlines wrote. ” We have grounded the aircraft for inspections. Our engineers and material will arrive in Kathmandu this evening. We expect the aircraft to be ready for operations tomorrow.”
