Hotel Association of Nepal is going to request the government to bar monasteries in Lumbini area from accommodating foreign tourists.

“Such activities by monasteries have affected business of hotels operating in Lumbini,” the association said today after the executive committee meeting in Pokhara.

Likewise, the meeting also decided to ask the government to stop increased misuse of hotel brands by small hotels and restaurants on highways.

The executive committee meeting of the association held in Pokhara today has decided to ask government to intervene and control such malpractices.

The association will also request the tourism ministry to monitor effectively of such hotels, lodges and restaurants and bring them into tax net,” it said.

Likewise, the meeting decided to organise massive promotional campaigns in India and China to attract more tourists from the neighbouring countries.

Meanwhile, hoteliers also urged the government to find solution to the problems seen in Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) as soon as possible as it is hurting the tourism sector.
