Hoteliers asked the government to walk the talk and let the tourism sector be recognised formally as a national priority industry.
Since the hotels have been paying the government taxes, it has to be formally recognised as the national priority industry, said a delegation of Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) talking to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala here today.
They also urged the government to solve various problems tourism sector is facing.
They also sought the premier’s help in sorting out various types of local taxes the hotels have been levied.
The delegation also highlighted lack of chief executive at the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) – that needs to promote tourism – and ailing national flag carrier – that has worried the tourism sector.
