The government today formed a probe committee to investigate into the Mountain Air helicopter crash. The chopper crashed at Yamuna Danda in Sindhupalchok yesterday afternoon, killing all four people, including its crew member and foreign national on board.
The ministry level decision has formed an investigation panel today, confirmed spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohan Krishna Sapkota.
The private civil aviation company Mountain Air chopper was returning to the capital after supplying relief goods to the earthquake survivors. The chopper that was ferrying a medical team of Medecins Sans Frontieres from Tembathan in Sindhupalchok to Kathmandu crashed at Yamuna Danda killing Dr Sanjeev Mahat, Sher Bahadur Karki, Dutch women Jessica Wilford and Capital Subek Shrestha.
The probe committee led by joint secretary Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane have under secretary Promod Nepal at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Captain Pramod Lama of Shree Airlines, Engineer Janak Thapa of Manang Air.
The probe team will investigate the crash of Mountain Air helicopter with the call sign 9N-AJP AS 350 that had crashed yesterday in a jungle at Yamuna Danda of Balefi in Sindhupalchowk after hitting a power pylon.
