Former president of Nepal Chambers of Commerce Ishwor Lal Shrestha expired at the age of 83 today.
One of the leaders of the chambers movement in Nepal and industrialist Shrestha was involved in the chamber movement since 1962 and had taken its leadership role from 1995 to 1999, according to a statement issued by Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC).
He served at the chamber for a long time, it read, adding that it was an irreparable loss to the chamber. “He had also played an active role in the establishment of Vanik Mandal – Merchants’ Association – in 1952.”
Vanik Mandal was the only organisation of the private sector before the establishment of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).
