Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) signed an agreement today with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the development of spare parts management centre and en-route radar services.
CAAN will use JICA assistance to provide safe and reliable air traffic control services, according to the agreement that is a part of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Modernisation Project. “The project is being implemented under the Japanese grant.”
The project that started in 2013 is slated to be complete in 2015.
Under the assistance, Nepal will receive grant assistance worth $9.68 million. The grant amount will be used to install Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR) system at the TIA and Bhatte Danda, according to the CAAN.
