The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) commerce ministers are meeting in New Delhi today.
The fifth meeting of the commerce ministers of the region, which houses one third of the world’s poor will dwell on how to increase intra-regional trade for the prosperous South Asia.
The two-day meeting will also see private sectors’ umbrella organisation of the SAARC nations apart from commerce ministers from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka.
Commerce Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala is leading the Nepali team in the meeting that will discuss a gamut of trade and economic issues.
The fourth SAARC commerce ministers had earlier committed to improving bilateral and regional trade in South Asia and bringing the bloc at par with other such regional commercial alliances of the world.
