Banking landscape has been changing and the financial institutions should prepare themselves for new risks and challenges, according to former governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Dr D Subba Rao.
Speaking at an event organised by National Banking Training Institute (NBTI) here in Kathmandu recently, he also shared international financial experience and how this has been impacting the regional and local banking landscape.
“The BASEL-III is expected to bring new tools for the risk management of financial institutions, he said, addressing the gathering of senior banking executives. “Banks should focus on four key areas mainly on financial inclusion, capacity enhancement, investment in infrastructure and finally on risk management,” he added.
Addressing on the occasion central bank governor Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada highlighted the importance of increased risk management for the sustainability of the financial sector.
