Nepal Food Corporation is going to import 3,400 goats for this year’s Dashain from Surkhet, Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Makwanpur, Siraha and Parsa districts.
The public entity every year imports and sells goats during the Dashain. Each year, it sells around 30,000 goats during the festival, deputy general manager of the corporation Nawaraj Upadhyay said, adding that the corporation’s move will help check private sector’s monopoly in price.
The corporation’s zonal offices purchases goats – at scientific price determined by a team of District Agriculture Development Officer, Food Corporation Officer and farmers under the convenorship of Chief District Officer – and sends to the capital, where it is consumed during the festivals.
