The Government of Japan ha agreed to provide a grant assistance of Rs 1.475 billion for the restoration of micro hydro projects in the western region.

Finance secretary Yubaraj Bhusal and Japanese ambassador to Nepal Masashi Ogawa signed the agreement – of Rs 1.475 billion grant assistance – on behalf of their respective governments here in Kathmandu today.

The assistance through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will help improve living standards of the people in the region by generating electricity after repairing dysfunctional equipment of the projects.

The grant will be used for 230 kW hydel of Bajhang, 228 Kw project of Bajura and Syarpu Danda of Rukum.
Bhusal, after signing the agreement, said the grant will be helpful in bringing positive change in the life of people when the rural areas are yet to be linked to national grid.
