The Internal Revenue Department (IRD) has felicitated four best taxpayers in western region.

The Nepalgunj office of the department felicitated Bishnu Mainali of Banke-based Bheri Financial Cooperative, Karna Bahadur Sinjali of Surkhet-based Kakrebihar Development Bank, Nirmal Prasad Acharya of Bardiya-based Janjyoti English Boarding School, and Madhav Adhikari of Dailekh-based Raju Enterprises.
The department is felicitating taxpayers across the country under its national campaign to encourage entrepreneurs for their contribution to the economy.

During the felicitating programme, jointly organised by department’s Nepalgunj regional office and Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry director general of the department Tanka Mani Sharma said the department is working toward making the tax system simple by amending tax related laws.

“The department will make the tax system simpler in the next fiscal year by making necessary amendment in the tax laws and regulations,” he said, adding that the government would act tough against individuals or firms involved in evading taxes, issuing fake VAT bill and not issuing invoice to the customers, after the simplification of taxation system.

Sharma, on the occasion, also felicitated the first businessperson from the region to register with VAT Kanhaiya Lal Baidhya.
Speaking at the programme, felicitated taxpayers said the government honour will encourage them to contribute more to the economy.
