Minister for Information and Communications Minendra Rijal said that the government is bringing a new policy within five months to help communication sector develop.

“We are introducing a communications policy within five months to promote communications technology,” said Rijal addressing the inaugural ceremony of ICT Electronics and Branding Expo 2014 here today.
The policy that envisages better operation of telecom, internet, digital and cable television services in the country will pave a way for a Communications Act as it was the government’s responsibility to introduce favourable rules to involve the private sector in the development drive of the ICT sector.

“The growth of ICT is possible either through private sector or public-private partnership,” he added.

The private sector, however, criticised the government for its negligence towards ICT sector. The five-day expo will conclude on April 28.
