Samriddhi, The Prosperity Foundation, celebrated the Global Entrepreneurship Week for the fourth year in a row in Nepal with the goal to acknowledge and inspire efforts of entrepreneurship in Nepal.
Realising the fact that the country’s shot at prosperity depends on entrepreneurs and the innovation they bring about, Samriddhi has been working on encouraging entrepreneurship and improving the business environment and economic policies since 2008, it said, adding that the Global Entrepreneurship Week celebration in Nepal since 2010 has been a rare affair lauding the efforts made by entrepreneurs in wealth creation, job creation and innovation in the country.
In order to inspire younger generation to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity, Global Entrepreneurship Week was celebrated all around the world on November 17-23 to encourage youth to think big, turn their ideas into reality, and make their mark.
However, given the second Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, on November 19, 2013, the celebrations of Global Entrepreneurship Week in Nepal took place eight days later. During the celebration, millions of young people around the world joined this growing movement to generate new ideas and seek better ways of doing things.
The initiative was started in 2008 by former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Carl Schramm, the president and chief executive of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Since then, it has grown to more than 100 countries with millions of people using this week to create new opportunities and successful ventures.
In Nepal, Samriddhi, The Prosperity Foundation has been celebrating the Global Entrepreneurs Week since 2010 by bringing together people and organisations to help create an environment that allows entrepreneurial behaviour to flourish.
Today’s final event celebrated the youth entrepreneurs’ and felicitated them for their success in different sectors.l Chief executive of Mega bank Anil Keshari Shah, Proprietor of Tranquility SPA Bhubaneshwor Phaiiju, Ashoka Fellow and Microhydro- Entrepreneur Bir Bahadur Ghale, chairman of Bajeko Sekuwa Chetan Bhandari, director of Advantage Group Deependra Tandon, Owner of Siwakoti Bags Khadanand Shiwakoti, director of Expressive Studios Swapnil Acharya and managing director of The Himalayan Rabbit Farm Ujjwal Chapagain were felicitated today at the end of the event that saw social entrepreneur and writer Anil Chitrakar as the keynote speaker.
